Company MAFALDA from Zurich and Cie Chamar bell clochette from Geneva are two companies that have produced very successful pieces for young audiences in recent years and have received awards for their work. For “Petitpas & I” the two artistic directors Teresa Rotemberg and Chine Curchod combine their experience in choreography and puppetry.

The company MAFALDA met with children in Argentina and Switzerland. Together they explored fundamental questions about their lives, their everyday lives, their dreams and longings. The children’s rich imagination, their stories and drawings were implemented in choreographies in conjunction with video works.

This isn’t just a production that can be watched, but also one that invites you to join in! The audience follows Vicky, the heroine of this piece, right from the start when she courageously sets out on a journey to discover faraway destinations. But more than that, the spectators are also called upon to support Vicky whenever she needs help.

The inspiration for this production came straight out of the colourful world of children’s dreams; it was developed in close collaboration with a school class. The audience delve deep into magical circles where quirky monsters, audacious knights, enchanted flowers, floating water-creatures and many others can be met.

In this performance creatures with extremely diverse qualities meet one another. Through their joint experiences they slowly begin to realise that there is opportunity in diversity, if they join forces and complement each other. Together they succeed in overcoming obstacles and discover new perspectives on even the trickiest of situations.
